An Athletic Trainer (AT) is a multi-skilled healthcare professional who specializes in prevention and initial care of injuries, concussion assessment and return to activity progression, wellness promotion and education, examination and clinical diagnosis, and treatment of movement-related injuries.

Injured or have discomfort while doing an activity, but don't think it is serious enough to see a physician? An AT is trained to evaluate your movement and functional abilities to determine the cause and the next step in care. Early recognition and intervention is necessary to help prevent new and reoccurring injuries from happening. The next step in your individualized care could range from at home exercises to 1 : 1 care with the AT, or a referral if necessary.

The goal is to figure out the issue causing injury/discomfort and provide tools to help you get back to performing at the level you are striving for.

Christine is a Licensed Athletic Trainer, trained Biomechanist, and yoga instructor. She relies on her experience and three skillsets to provide a holistic approach to injury prevention and care. She aims to help people learn how to take care of their body so one day they won’t need her services. Christine has 10+ years as a practicing clinician and has worked with active individuals between 5-60+ years old in sports and performing arts.

Qualifications

Christine has a PhD in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Biomechanics from the University of Georgia (Go Dawgs!). At UGA she provided AT services for club rugby and ultimate frisbee, served as the injury surveillance specialist for a 2 year turfgrass-injury study, and researched biomechanical factors contributing to Chronic Ankle Instability. She received her Master of Science in Post-Professional Athletic Training from Ohio University where she served as the Head Athletic Trainer for a local high school and youth football league. Her journey in athletic training started with her bachelor’s degree from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

Christine recently left academia after teaching Master of Athletic Training and undergraduate Biomechanics courses for 4 years at Southern Utah University. While hosting a regular clinic for performing arts majors, Christine recognized how much she missed helping people feel better while they work towards their movement goals and found a need in the community.

Christine completed her 300 hour yoga teacher training with Carmen and Moises Aguilar in 2017. She loves integrating and sharing her clinical knowledge in her methodical sequences to achieve specific goals. Christine currently teaches yoga classes in the community and at SUU.
